Through Bella, many of these successful concepts have already been introduced and adapted to local communities. Educational activities with children, regular programs in partnership with educational organizations, community events, corporate team-building initiatives, public awareness campaigns, and structured interactions between people and animals have demonstrated the value of these approaches in the Bulgarian context.
Rather than simply replicating international models, GOLDEN DOG BELLA is building on proven global practices while adapting them to the needs, culture, and opportunities of local communities. Bella's Journey - The Beginning
Bella's story did not begin in a classroom, at an event, or through a formal program.
It began at home.
When my mother was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, our lives changed overnight. Like many families facing a serious illness, we experienced fear, uncertainty, emotional exhaustion, and difficult moments that seemed impossible to navigate.
Throughout this journey, Bella was always there.
She seemed to instinctively understand when someone needed comfort, companionship, or simply a quiet presence. She would stay close during the hardest days, bringing moments of calm, connection, and emotional relief when words were often not enough.
Witnessing Bella's natural ability to connect with people inspired us to explore her potential further. Over the following three years, Bella underwent continuous training and development, building the skills, confidence, and discipline needed to work successfully in educational, community, and public settings.
What we witnessed during those challenging years changed the way we viewed the relationship between humans and animals. We began to realize that Bella was doing something extraordinary. Her presence made difficult moments more manageable. She helped create smiles during painful days and brought people together when they needed each other most.
Over time, it became clear that what we were experiencing at home could also help others.
This realization inspired us to explore animal-assisted interventions, education, and community programs more deeply. What started as the story of one family and one dog gradually evolved into a broader mission: creating opportunities for more people to experience the positive impact that animals can have on emotional wellbeing, learning, social connection, and quality of life.
Today, Bella continues to be the heart of that mission.
